Community, Committee, & Parents

Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or club support team member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting a Club or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.

Committee

Each local area has a committee of adults who believes in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers and churches, including lots of moms and dads who care about kids.

The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life teams.

An Essential Foundation
The committee is the foundation for Young Life in a local area. Oftentimes, new Young Life clubs start because of the interest and awareness created by the committee. We also welcome the involvement of adult Young Life alumni, whose enthusiasm about their Young Life experiences is valuable to a committee.

During the year, the Committee works on several projects including the annual Banquet and the annual Golf Tournament. We couldn't hold these fundraisers without the incredible gift of time and talent from our Committee. They also meet regularly to pray for the ministry of Young Life, discuss how to support volunteer leaders and high school participants, and manage the finances of our area.

The Committee is an invaluable part of the ministry of Young Life. We appreciate all that they bring to the ministry!

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity. Young Life's Human Resources department has developed missionwide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders as well as when kids are part of Young Life's sponsored activities.
